 GEXPAYE

GEXPAYE (Grupo Experimental Arte y Ecología) esta formado por un grupo de creadores en varias  áreas, quienes estamos comprometidos con nuestro propio crecimiento y nos hemos unido para suplementar la educación con el aprendizaje libre y contribuir al desarrollo de una cultura de paz en la República Dominicana, desde San Francisco de Macorís.

Nosotros, consideramos que los objetivos de la educación son la auto-realización, y la creación de personas espirituales (no religiosas), con conciencia social y ética, con sabiduría, y salud física y emocional que se conduzcan sobre la base de principios de amor, interdependencia (cuidado y respeto por los demás y el medio ambiente), la solidaridad, el compromiso, la responsabilidad (por sí mismos y otros), la honestidad, la aceptación propia y del otr@, la compasión y el respeto. La liberación y la auto-realización de estas personas sostienen y conducen a la creación de una sociedad más equitativa, humana y productiva.

Nuestra misión es crear una atmósfera que motive y apoye la creatividad y el aprendizaje libre de cada niñ@ con el objetivo de asistir al descubrimiento y desarrollo de su potencial interno (ese regalo que como ser único-no hay ni habrá nunca más otro ser igual- sólo ella o el puede ofrecerle al universo). El arte en sus variadas manifestaciones nos permite crear esta atmosfera pues provee las dos: desarrolla la creatividad (el lado derecho del cerebro) y estimula el intelecto (el lado izquierdo). Por esta razón en  GEXPAYE incluimos el arte como base de todo aprendizaje. Pero sabemos que en la sociedad que vivimos la expresión de este potencial también necesita conocimiento formal (educación), por eso ofrecemos un programa completo de desarrollo y fortalecimiento creativo y educativo pero por medio del aprendizaje libre con la motivación, el experimento, la experiencia, el respeto generalizado, la responsabilidad, la cooperación y la reflexión como principios. Nuestro programa esta basado en talleres y temas de necesidad o interés social y cultural dentro de los cuales trabajamos la lectura y escritura e incluimos otras disciplinas y destrezas académicas.

Nosotr@s entendemos el ser humano como: un ser pensante que necesita crear y desarrollar su imaginación; un ser social que necesita expresarse, ser aceptado, amado, respetado y apoyado por la comunidad a la que pertenece; un ser espiritual que necesita naturaleza, belleza, silencio y reflexión para poder conectarse a su dios interno y a su intuición, un ser físico con un reloj interno que si podemos debemos respetar y que necesita comer, dormir, descansar, divertirse; un ser emocional que debe ser nutrido y con emociones que deben ser bregadas, habladas y si es posible sacadas de la memoria del cuerpo por medio de masajes y psicoterapia; un ser con un genio, una habilidad que constituye lo que puede ofrecer a su comunidad y lo que l@ hace feliz por lo cual esa habilidad debe ser encontrada y desarrollada; un ser que necesita orden, disciplina, rutina y organización para poder desarrollarse; un ser libre que necesita cierto control interno, no externo, y conocimiento de cómo la sociedad lo controla y manipula para poder expresar esa libertad; y por ultimo un ser que aprende lo que ve y lo que vive no lo que se le dice por eso es nuestra responsabilidad transformarnos para modelar el comportamiento deseado en ell@s;

Nuestra visión es asistir a la creación de una sociedad más humana. Por consiguiente, fuera de trabajar el arte y la educación en GEXPAYE también  tratamos de ofrecer una  atmosfera que apoye el desarrollo humano de cada individuo. Por eso no solo nos enfocamos solo en nosotr@s y en l@s niñ@s, sino que trabajamos el desarrollo familial y barrial. Hacemos esto involucrando a l@s niñ@s y las madres y padres en la directiva  del proyecto donde asumen roles que apoyan sus  necesidades e intereses. Con l@s miembro@s también hacemos acuerdos comunitarios que afirman su valor y respeto por toda la creación y nos dejamos guiar por sus intereses y necesidades, fomentamos la cooperación no la competencia, les ofrecemos yoga (respiración, asanas, relajación meditación), y yudo y otras artes para su desarrollo físico e interno, todo dentro de un programa estructurado y flexible que nos permite asistir a su desarrollo y a la creación de seres empoderados, con control propio y poder de decisión, seres realmente libres y una mejor sociedad para tod@s..

We are a group of artists and creadors  in various areas of fine arts, education, and crafts among others, who are committed to our own development. We have teamed up to supplement the education and contribute to the development of a less violent culture in the Dominican Republic, from San Francisco de Macoris.
 
Motivation and experiment are our guidelines / principles, and we use art as the foundation for all learning. Our mission is to create an atmosphere that encourages and supports creativity and learning in order to assist in the discovery and development of each child’s inner potential. Art in its many manifestations allows us to create this atmosphere as it provides both: it develops the creativity (right brain) and stimulates the intellect (the left).
 
But since the expression of this potential also needs formal knowledge (education), although we are not a school, we offer a comprehensive program of development and strengthening of  academic and creative skills. Our program is based on workshops on issues of interest or social needs, in which we include reading and writing as well as other disciplines and academic skills.
 
Finally, we understand that although a child is not a little adult, he or she
is:

• a thinking being and needs to create and develop his-her imagination
• a social being who needs to express him-herself, be accepted, loved, respected and supported by the community s-he belongs to
• a spiritual being who needs nature, beauty, silence and reflection to connect to his-her intuition and inner god
• a physical being with an internal clock that if we can we must respect and with a physical body that need to eat, sleep, relax, have fun
• an emotional being that must be nurtured and with emotions that need to be dealt with, spoken about and if possible removed from the memory of the body through massage and psychotherapy
• a genius, and has a gift that is what s-he can offer his-her community; this ability is what makes him happy so it must be found and developed
• a free being who needs some internal, not external, control, and knowledge of how society controls and manipulates him-her so s-he can express that freedom
• a being that learns what s-he sees and experiences not what s-he is told; therefore if s-he sees violence, s-he learns violence, etc. That is why it is extremely important that we model the behavior we want them to acquire.
• a being that needs order, discipline, routine and organization, to develop the self-control s-he needs to be truly free
• above all, a being that needs to feel loved and protected, and to be treated with fairness, flexibility and respect. 

Our aim is to help create a more just and humane society. Therefore, in GEXPAYE besides working with arts and education, we also make community agreements with the members that affirm everyone’s value and respect for all of creation. We are guided by our members´ interests and needs, and offer relaxation and reflection as a form of meditation. We also encourage cooperation rather than competition, emphasize our inter-connectedness and responsibility for ourselves and our environment and discourage individualism and consumerism. We encourage analysis and insight, not memorization and blind obedience. In this way we assist their development and the creation of beings with decision-making powers, that is truly free beings. Lastly, we help create a more humane culture and reduce violence in the Dominican Republic.
