VIAJE REGALO DE REYES GEXPAYE 2014/ GEXPAYE 2014 THREE KINGS DAY TRIP

Gracias al apoyo dado por la comunidad con sus compras en nuestras ferias navideñas generamos los primeros fondos destinados al costo del viaje, y gracias a nuestra amiga y colaboradora Mayte Vásquez quien nos puso en contacto con las autoridades del Ministerio de Medio Ambiente conseguimos entradas gratis a los diferentes parques visitados para los niños y niñas y a precio reducido para los adultos, al igual que un refrigerio y un almuerzo pudimos ofertarle este viaje al Zoológico Nacional, al Acuario y al Museo de Historia Nacional al módico precio de $150 pesos por persona a las familias de los sectores marginados de San Francisco de Macorís brindándole así la experiencia y oportunidad de aprender, relajarse, disfrutar y conocer en familia. 
Fue tanto su entusiasmo que se motivaron a planificar una Kermes para generar los fondos base para nuestro próximo viaje comunitario, siendo este gesto el logro y beneficio mayor del viaje- el involucramiento de la comunidad en su propio desarrollo.

Thanks to the support given by the community during our Christmas fairs we were able to collect a part of the funds needed to pay for the bus needed for the trip, and thanks to our friend and collaborator Mayte Vasquez, who contacted the department in charge of the parks ( the zoo, the Aquarius and the Museum of Natural History) we were visiting and got us free entrances for the children and reduce fares for the adults as well as a snack and a meal, we were able to provide this trip at the low price of RD $150.00 (about 4 dollars) to inner-city families who couldn’t otherwise afford such trip bringing them the experience and opportunity to travel, learn and enjoy together.
Their enthusiasm was such that they started to plan a Kermes, a food drive, to generate the base funds for our next community trip. To us this response- the community’s involvement in its own development- is our and their biggest gain of all.

PARTICIPACIÓN DE GEXPAYE EN EL CONCIERTO POPULAR DE CONCÓN QUEMAO EN EL MERCADO MUNICIPAL DE SAN FRANCISCO DE MACORIS. EN APOYO A LA MÚSICA DE CONTENIDO SOCIAL Y DE SENTIR POPULAR COMO UN INCENTIVO A LOS NIÑ@S QUE PARTICIPAN CON NOSOTROS A LA APRECIACIÓN DE OTROS RITMOS MUSICALES . EVENTO QUE DISFRUTAMOS JUNTO A LOS VENDEDORES Y PUBLICO QUE ESTABA PRESENTE EN EL MERCADO. 


GEXPAYE participated in Concon Quemao´s concert given in the municipal marketplace in San Fco de Macoris not only to support their efforts but also to motivate the kids we work with to listen to and engage in social content music and other rhythms. Everyone together, buying, selling, eating, singing, dancing and enjoying ourselves.

WE WANT TO EXPRESS OUR GRATITUDE TO ALL THOSE WHO PARTICIPATED IN OUR CHRISTMAS CAROLING AND COMMUNITY GINGER TEA TIME THROUGH THE STREETS OF THE JAVIELA, THE NEIGHBORHOOD WHERE WE WORK, ENDING IN A POPULAR CORNER WHERE TEA AND CRACKERS WERE WAITING FOR US.

Ferias Navideñas 2013/ Christmas Fairs 2013

Aprovechamos el mes de diciembre para ofrecer ferias donde la comunidad pudiera venir a comprar sus regalos y a beneficiarse de nuestros super-especiales precios. En nuestras ferias vendemos ropa de paca donada por nuestros amig@s de aqui y de afuera, nuestra artesania hecha por nuestros artistas Edwin Urbano y Jose Luis Marmolejos y por l@s jovenes integrante de GEXPAYE. Para estas ferias los chic@s de GEXPAYE  crearon tarjetas de navidad y ganchos de pelos. Dos de las ferias se realizaron en el Centro Cultural La Nave y una, el Mercado de Artistas en una plaza salida a la capital. El dinero recolectado en estas ferias nos sirvira de fondo para el pago de la guagua que nos llevara a nuestro proximo viaje hacia la capital a un precio inigualable a conocer el Zoologico, el Acuario, y el Museo de Historia Natural y a disfrutar de entradas, comida y meriendas gratis gracias al Ministerio de Medio Ambiente via la astronoma  dominicana residente en Alemania, Mayte Vasquez, miembra de Galileo Mobile, quien cuando estuvo visitando el pais nos honro escogiendonos para dar uno de sus preciados talleres de astronomia.

We took advantage of the month of December and hosted fairs for the community where they could buy their presents and benefit from our off-the-wall prices. In our fairs we sell second hand clothes donated by our friends from here and far, our arts-and-carfts made by our artists Edwin Urbano and Jose Luis Marmolejos and by our young members. For these fairs they made Christmas cards and hair accessories. Two of the fairs were conducted in the Centro Cultural La Nave, a cultural space in SFM, and one, El Mercado de Artistas, was conducted in a mall on the outskirts of town. We will apply the money collected in these fairs to the base price of the bus that will take us to our next community outing towards the capital city of Santo Domingo at an unbelieve price. There we will enjoy free entrances to the Zoo, the Aquarium, and the Museum of Natural History, meals and snacks thanks to the Ministry of Environmental Protection. Special thanks go to the Dominican astronomer Maytre Vasquez, member of Galileo Mobile who when visiting the country honored us by choosing to come offer one of her precious astronomy workshops.
